Cosmic Palette

Hi all,

Not sure if I like this image or not. Taken in a big rush two nights ago as a weak aurora display reached my location. Shot only minutes before the moon rose on the horizon washing out the faint aurora display. You can see that the Milky Way has already started to be washed out from the light of the moon. I didn't have time to find a better composition. The tree in the middle of frame is blocking some of the light pollution from a city (Albury) about 100 km away.

For those interested in capturing aurora from a similar latitude (-35) the planetary Kp was 4 and the Bz was about -12

Thank you very much Laurie, Mike and Greg I think the thing that bothers me most about it is the framing with that tree smack bang in the middle, but as I mentioned, only minutes after I took this the moon rose above the horizon and the show was all over so I didn't have time to find a better composition.

Greg,

Still a beautiful image, bro. I don't mind the tree in the middle, at all, actually.

If only the left hand side was flatter, then, it'd be perfect!

Well done.

Really nice pic, Greg.

I like your watermark, too. What did you use to embed it?
