re: Using a Dob

HI folks, can i use a DMK21AU04.AS.camera with my 14.5 inch sdm dob, to do spectroscopy?
what problems am i likely to encounter?

Hey Julian,

I suspect this thread may be in the incorrect forum. It might be better suited in one of the astrophotography forums.

But to answer your question, in short, YES.

Have a look at what one fellow is capable of doing with DSO's through his 25" dob:

There is also an article in the Projects & Articles in the left heading dealing with this too by Mike, the Iceman, Salway:

Astrophotography with a dob

The various stacking software available, much of it free too, is capable of dealing with image rotation that would be encountered with an alt/az mount, whether it tracks or not.

I'm sure there are much more qualified folks out there who can shed more light on this than I can.
