First dip in The Lagoon

On Melbourne's first clear, but very windy night in weeks, I had a go at photographing M8.

Pretty happy with this shot - except I could not find where the kids hid my remote cable release, so I think I've bumped it a little pushing the shutter button, D'oh!

It's a single capture 30 second exposure, iso 640 on a D700. Worked the heck out of it in Photoshop, Nik filters and some astro actions I found online.

When I figure out how to get a stacking program that talks to my mac, I'll probably get a lot more out of the data, as there are a few more subs and darks that have yet to be processed. Meanwhile, I think I'll install bootcamp and get a windows licence, as DSS seems very popular, and the whole mac/PC/astro software thing is challenging!

Thanks for looking : )

Very impressive for a single 30 sec. shot.
