The Hanging Gardens

Hi all,
I love when I get great sky conditions at that magical moment when the moon is at the right phase to properly expose the landscape and not wash out the stars too much in a single shot.

"The Hanging Gardens"
Over 180 vertical panorama made from 10 horizontal images.
Canon 5D Mk II
14mm F/2.8 Lens
Larger version can be seen here http://greg-gibbs.deviantart.com/art...dens-310998685
Cheers

Terrific shot. How many panels did you require to get the whole sky and what method of distortion did you use to make the milkyway linear? Did you shoot from horizon to horizon moving up on a S/N line?

Thank you so much Marc With the 14mm on the full frame camera I could probably do this in just two shots if I wanted to ( It has about a 120 degree field of view) but I did 10 to make sure I had a heap of overlap. Yes I just started at the southern horizon and worked up until I was shooting straight overhead and then I spun the tripod around and came back down to the northern horizon. All you need to do then is flip those last images.

Thank you so much Mike and Marco I really appreciate that coming from you guys. I adore and but can only dream of your work. I won't be entering this in the APOY for two reasons. I hate flicker and even if I put aside my grievances I think I am pretty much too late anyway.

Thank you so much Greg I'm glad you like it. F/3.2 30 seconds. ISO 3200. I really had the sweet spot with the moon light for this.

Really beautiful Greg. I'm with you on the 1/3 moon comment...it's a magical time of the month not to be wasted in doors!

Your shot reminds me of one I did last year in the Bungles. In that I did a full 180 stitch. Also taken around magic moon...I'll post it in another thread.

Congratulations is really beautiful and evocative. I think it is complicated to program the correct exposure times for the landscape and the sky,
Cheers,
