Moon in registax help

Howdy all. I took a couple shots of the moon and a video with my point and shoot. I had the idea that I could try loading the vid into Registax just to see what would happen. You know, one day I'll want to do it with a real camera so might as well get some practice in, right? The program loaded it ok, but it seemed to me the picture size was way to small in the working window. The moon pic wasn't big enough to get more than a couple align markers on it. I shot the vid HD and I'm not sure what the difference would be between this vid and one from say a webcam. The example on the Registax site showed the program working window full of moon. It could have a hundred alignment markers if you know what I mean. Anyway I just need to know the reasons behind it, then I'll be happy and it'll stop driving me nuts ha ha,,. I'll insert the first moon pic my camera took just for interest sake .x24 zoom f5 1/60th shutter, no processing. Thanks for your help.

Hi John, I'm no expert and someone will correct me if I'm wrong, so i will try to help. What format was the video in? (mp4, avi etc). Also you say 24 x zoom, is that digital zoom or optical zoom? The reason I ask is because if it is digital zoom, that means that the moon will only take up a far less pixels on your sensor than if it's optical zoom. This could be why it was so small. Another thing is there is a tick box above the working window which says "show picture full size" or something close to that anyway. If you tick that box the picture will be presented at thr full resolution at which it was taken. Not sure if this makes any difference to the number of align points it will make or not, but you can try it.

Thanks Rex. I changed the vid to avi so registax would accept it. The vid was shot with optical zoom only as per the enclosed pic. Good point about the viewing size box you are supposed to tick. Must have missed it. I'll check it out. Cheers.
