127ED ordered

Well I've taken the leap and ordered a 127mm ED APO triplet CF from North Group. This is to go on my new NEQ6 mount. Just for visual use for now, but I will move into AP later, probably starting with a DSLR (I need a new camera anyway).
According to the good wife - these are my birthday, christmas and father's day presents for the next two years. I think that's a pretty good deal.

Now the wait

Clear skies

Simon,

127mm OTA, Carbon Fibre, dovetail plate and rings, standard focuser, 2" diagonal, 1.25-2" adapter, 8x50 illuminated reticle finder, aluminium case plus shipping plus paypal fee - all up AUD1680. Delivery about 2 weeks

I reckon I got a pretty good buy.

There are some issues with their focuser both standard and advanced models, but I intend to upgrade to a moonlite with stepper when I eventually move into astrophotography (still got to convince my wife to spend a "little" more)

Clear skies

Rod

Hi Rod,
Where you purchasing this from, local or overseas?
After a larger scope but limited in the funds and this seems to fit the bill rather well.
PM me if you do not wish to post it here, if you don't mind.

Cheers.

Thanks John,

Hopefully the waiting time doesn't drag out too long. I ordered the standard focuser, so I'll play around with that for a while see how it handles my TV eyepieces.

PS hows the obs going?

Hi Rod,

I've pulled the old roof off and ordered some of the longer timber. That should arrive next week. Gives me time to clean the tank out, not that its that dirty.

Did they say how long before delivery. Atleast you will have had time to play with the new mount by the time it arrives.

John,

Gilman didn't say, but most others purchasers have said around 2 weeks. TNT tracking has it at the international airport in China. Oops better be careful or I'm likely to start posting a day by day count down.

Good luck with the obs.

Rod
