Southeast Queensland Dark Skies

G'day
I have spent the past several months looking for a good dark sky site for viewing within an hour to an hour and a half from Brisbane. If the site is more than an hour and a half away, I would be interested in someplace where an overnight stay is possible. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks.

Count me in also Gentleman ... would be good to find a ' not to far ' away spot.

My place has the usual street light L/P .. which doesn't help for ' good ' viewing .. have to go behind trees to get away from directly affecting my scope.

I am looking also.

Its a tough problem to be honest - Once you get past Ipswich by 45 mins you can get some splendid views. To get really dark sky then Toowoomba becomes an issue and one has to travel away from there which makes it a substantial hike.

Try hooking up with one of the local clubs and drawing on their knowledge - they all have plenty of great spots and will get out to a decent site once a month at least.

If you want to go with the family, try twinstars guesthouse at Stanthorpe - an experienced astronomer in residence and plenty for the tribe to do during the day...

Astroron opens Cambroon Observatory every new Moon.
There's plenty of elbow room to set up up scopes and tents. A small donation is appreciated to cover electricity, tea and coffee.
Otherwise there are a few farm stays out Kilcoy way.
