Hi all,
The ASNSW has the inaugural Scott Mellish astronomical sketching competition up and running. It is an international sketching competition held to honour the memory of their dear friend Scott Mellish. So not to do a duplicate thread on the topic, this thread is just to guide interest to the sticky thread on the competition in the Star Parties and Community Events forum
Scott Mellish Sketching Competition, ASNSW
I was approached last year by Paul Hatchman and Alex Comino to help them out with the formulation of the competition. I gladly agreed and remained not a member of the ASNSW while the formulation process happened. I did not want to have be seen as having fear or favour to the ASNSW, remaining as neutral as I could to the process.
The judging will be by popular vote of the attendees at the next SPSP this April.
I hope this triggers some more interest in this little niche aspect of our hobby. It isn't all about pretty photos (no offence intended Strongmanmike,

), but sketching may be unnecessarily overlooked as a vivid part of amateur astronomy.
