Shed mods

I have been setting up my EQ6 and 10” reflector in a marked location in the backyard which has worked OK.

But with new equipment on the way which is nowhere near as portable I need to build a permanent structure.

Our back yard is basically full as it is very small so fitting a dome is out of the question.

I do have a 6x6x2.7m all steel shed with a low gable roof and my thoughts are to modify the roof to flip open two 3x1m panels and build a pier with a surrounding platform.

Has anyone completed anything similar that could advise on any traps and pitfalls?

Cheers

6 x 6 sounds pretty small to me. SkySlab is a tin shed 2.7 x 1.8 but I have a flat roof which swivels 90* to open to the sky. Mine has just enough room if you are careful to move around the scope (10" Serrurier Truss Newt on EQ6) with a PC desk etc along one of the short sides.
Do you intend to be in the shed while in use ? If so you will be very restricted. Some photos of my setup on http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=88712 Scroll down to about May for open roof shots with 10" on the EQ6.

I think he means 6metre x 6 metre! Plenty of room unless Peter is a heavy chap.

Well it’s been a while but it’s virtually finished. I’m just getting the hang of the new Gemini 11 controller at the moment.

Slide off open and nearly ready to go
