First Light For Jupiter Test Images Take 2! C9.25 4th April

This is the first time I've seen the stars since I got my new scope, & 10 mins after I shot these it had clouded over & was raining. (crazy weather!)

Anyhow I'm pleased I got SOMETHING! (even if they are crappy)

Seeing conditions were very poor 3-4/10 but I was itching to get jupiter so I ignored that bit, lol.

The first one is with the 2X barlow & IR/UV cut filter. 100 frames stacked. No resampling in registax. 1/50th sec @ 5 FPS.

The second one I added the extension tube just to show the difference between using one & not. IR/UV cut & again, no resampling. 200 frames stacked. Shot at 1/25th sec @ 10 FPS.

Both with: 45% brightness 60% gain 65% gamma.

I left collimation alone, didn't even look to find out if it was out or not.
But I did run the cooler for 2.5 hrs before shooting. Bring on some decent seeing!!!!!

C9.25 & toucam.

Here you are. Hope these are sufficient size etc etc.

I reckon I can up the anti a bit here by extending the extension tube! A project for the weekend on the lathe at work. Great idea re the peltier on the cooler too!

Thanks.

Heres what my image scale looks like on the 640x480 screen for 1600x. With Dennis and his 4x, mike with a powermate and an extension and your extra extension, we will have a great image scale group for opposition.

thats what i meant, i was going thru the guys and was thinking robert, but thinking dennis in that he didn't have the extra scale and that even an extension tube with the 2.5 powermate won't get it up to 4x............

apologies to all people living or dead that may have been insulted by a convict riddled tasmanian

5x powermate and 100mm extension for the full 7.7x the powermate can put out.

No thanks! Having enough trouble with 2X with extension tube let alone a Dave-eridoo image scale!
