Lovejoy 15-1-12 gradient map image.

Hi,

Iv'e been playing around with the 15 - 1-12 image of comet Lovejoy.
I used gradient mapping in photoshop, and this false colour image shows the extent of the tail out past canopus.

Cheers,

Justin.

That picks out the tail nicely Justin. I have never used gradient mapping in photoshop. Did you try the inverse view to compare to gradient mapping?

Hi, Lester.

Yep tried inverted views, brings out a little more detail but found the gradient map option the best on the image. Your image goes much deeper and shows the tail very well.

Gradient mapping might be the way to go as the comet gets fainter.
No chance of imaging tonight though.

Cheers,

Justin.

Hi,

Here's the full width image of lovejoy on the 15th. I can trace the tail to 35 degrees, and probably still going off frame.

Cheers,

Justin.

All the best.
