Thanks John and Derek – this one almost got away from me. I spent most of the morning trying to dodge this pesky blanket of cloud that has been hanging around Brisbane this past few days, in spite of the local weather channels promising clear skies….

The jet stream conditions looked ideal and I was able to get some excellent periods of seeing during the night in between sets of clouds, but by comparison, the daytime conditions have been atrocious.
I deleted all but one AVI from a frustrating day’s efforts - AVIStack managed to turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse from my single keeper.
The ‘scope is the Mewlon 180 F12 with Tak x1.6 Extender (Barlow) operating at F19.2 (3456mm efl). The OTA reaches ambient quite quickly and I use a full aperture solar filter made from Baader astro solar film, the photographic density that allows exposure settings of 1/2000 sec, 30fps, and Gain approx 300.
In my experience, AVIStack seems to process all the detail across the whole frame more evenly compared to my efforts with Registax 4 & 5 only. I also like the batch mode with default settings in AVIStack v2.0.
Cheers
Dennis
