Rainbow 01 April 2006

The thing i like about April showers, is that you get rainbows with them. But the odd thing is, they only appear in the N/NE and sometimes East, but never anywhere in the South here. Heres one i captured with a shower going by.

That's because the sun never get north of your east west line. A rainbow (from rainfall) appears opposite to the sun so the sun would need to get north of a line drawn from you west to east. The same thing happens here, we very rarely get rainbows to the north. We do sometimes in Summer if it is around the summer solstice.
