CA in Astro Photography

My friend is buying the Explore Scientific 127 Achromatic and is hoping the Chromatic Aberration isn't going to disappoint him esp. when it comes to his first forays into astro-photography.

Although the limited reviews I've seen say good things they do mention CA around bright objects (eg Moon and possibly Jupiter/Venus etc).

What I don't know is whether the problem becomes more noticeable in long exposures of the usual photographic targets.

Anybody had experience with this??

Thanks - Regulus

Yep I have,

He will end up with stars with either big red haloes or blue haloes. Basically blue or red will be out of focus.

Some people have has success with the chromacorr. I havent tried one, I just spent the bucks and got an apo.

Thanks

Thanks guys for your responses.

What I thought too.

Am interested in these Chromocors though as an idea. And since he is on a budget it means slowly putting it all together
Might be good to get the ES 127 and later a chromocor - provided it will take Adapters and Cameras

Cheers.

Trevor
