Camera and 2x Barlow... no focus?

I am trying to use my 550D alongside a 2X Barlow in my Newt however am encountering some troubles with my Newt.

I think it is a focus issue. Without the 2x Barlow I can easily get focus. However, with the 2x Barlow attached I get just black. I investigated further and took over-exposed images and was presented with a huge doughnut ring (the out of focus image that my Newt returns).

I've tried to mount the barlow directly to the t-ring, as well as with the t-adapter. I have taken out the eye piece holder and used extra large screws to get it closer in the focusing tube and still no luck.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

(Sorry about the lack of images, at my Mrs and using a very bad PC)

Had a play in daylight using the neighbours house as a reference point (I swear I'm going to have the police knocking on the door soon, especially as I had my camera out!).

I think I've fixed it. It turns out I needed the camera to be further away rather than closer.

Will see how it works with Jupiter tonight, fingers crossed. Then I can work on my GOTO problems... :/ Such a huge learning curve, especially when things don't work.

If you need to move the camera back then an extension tube may be helpfull.
If you do need to move the camera closer to get focus then depending how far a low profile focusser may be enough or else you would need to move the primary mirror up the tube.
