CGEM power

Hello, I currently run my CGEm with a 17HA power tank which has been fine but I was out so long the other night it went flat.
Anyone in Australia have suggestions about a good power adaptor for this mount? I have mains available.

Any 12v power supply is fine , just buy a large cheap deep cycle battery and a few 12v lighter sockets to connect to it and away you go. The power tanks are overpriced and to small for extended use.
You could also just get a jump start power pack from Super cheap or K-mart if you want an easy solution.

I have heard it needs at least 3amps, I run my EQ 6 on a Jaycar 12v/2.5amp regulated adaptor. Would this work? I also have an old 12v 1.5 or 2amp adaptor I bought from Bintel for my Meade yonks ago. I haven't tried it as I have read that the power to CGem's is a bit fussy?

I think to be safe around 5A but you can try and see as it wont hurt anything and the lighter plug has a 5A fuse in it as well. I dont think they are fussy ? I had mine 2yrs and never had a prob running it from various batteries and your EQ power supply will work fine.

I'm using a 400 watt converted PC power supply. Delivers about 6 amps at 12 volts, 16 amps at 5 volts ( useful for led lighting etc ). The mount flashes it's power led slowly as though it is low voltage but there is plenty of current so it works perfectly. Well regulated and cheap as, plenty of old PCs thrown away. Just google for a circuit, easy to do and the supply is quite small for it's capacity.

I run my CGEM using a Jaycar Powertech switching power supply (240 to 12v 8amp max). Was about $30 or $40 for memory from Jaycar here in Canberra.
Happy with it.

I user a Powertech MP-3098 13.8 Volt 20 Amp DC Power Supply go run my G11, and a laptop, and 2 CCD cameras, and a couple of dew heaters. It works with my CG5 too, so there's no reason it would not work with a CGEM. Rather more expensive than some of the other Powertech models, but better output.

I use a PC power supply for all my 12v and 5v needs if mains is available, get a good brand one and the power is nice and clean.

I'm still tossing up between the CGEM and the NEQ6Pro, so I haven't tried either off a PC power supply, but they have plenty of current and nice clean juice in a small, quiet package.
