One small step for me

A very small step. Using a modified 1.3 meg webcam in my 12" Dob. No eyepiece, no filters, no guiding, no tracking, no stacking, no fixing at all.

Just so you know - its Saturn

Reminds me of my 1st image with a $8 webcam stuck into a file canister.

If you were to do it again tonight, I would check the settings and see if you can turn the exposure (shutter) down a bit to get less glare.

eventually take a movie of it, and search on here for how to stack. I ended up with a decent picture, not 2 good though. I posted it in another post on here.

And also have a look at the gain set for your cam. They are available in "properties" for the camera and you can adjust gain and shutter speed (exposure) so that you actually get a sharper image due to less glare as Steve says.

I spent 3 weeks imaging Saturn with the same outcome and thought "ah well that's all I'm gonna get" until I discovered I had to adjust the gain to get some colour

I was just playing around with it after seeing a couple of vids on you tube. I was just chaffed to get it working, took couple of pics and vids.

I will take on your advice, and play around with it some more, didn't even realise it had gain and exposure controls, but wait till the moon comes up next week.
It's too hard trying to film planets and adjust settings without tracking.
