Ngc6559 lrgb

NGC 6559 and surrounds.

LRGB = 70min, 40min, 40min, 40 min in 10 minute subs

Camera : QHY9 with Baader LRGB filters
Scope: Takahashi TSA 120

Subs calibrated, aligned and combined in CCDStack, Fiddled with Photoshop CS4.

First release only as I hope to gather a bit more data tonight weather permitting of course.

Guiding is superb Doug, very round stars. For the data collected it is pretty smooth even in the high res version. I would like to see the colour saturation boosted a little though. Other than that it is tops. I found that when I did this myself, I had to do quite a lot of processing to bring out the orange stars. Those are tough.

Thank Paul. This is only a rough work up at the moment. Hopefully I can get a bit more data tonight. I would like a bit more of the blue and maybe some shorter subs to substitute the stars.

That's a really nice shot Dougie. It does though look a tad washed out.

Try this (don't tell anyone, its a trade secret hehehe).

make a duplicate copy
set it to soft light
reduce the opacity to suit.

Viola!! instant contrast.

Now you can boost the saturation a tad.

The beginnings of a great image there Doug! Stars are great and round, colour is subtle, but more data and it'll jump at you!

It seems to me that you've got everything working nicely together and the results are very, very good.

I'm glad the weather gods' are smiling at you. Unbelievable hey, Since I packed all my stuff away to finally start building my observertory, It's been brilliant here! Typical!

I'm happy somebody is making use of the conditions.....

Very nice going Doug! This image is looking good so far with good colour balance and detail.

Yep, you need more data - at least double I'd say. Then increase the colour saturation and careful processing your stars - they're a bit harsh.
