M87 from probably too far south

Hi to all

I was really just playing around here. Everything I wanted to image in the south was in the wrong position so I thought I would have a go at M87 which is about as far north as I can comfortably go and in the heavily light polluted part of my sky. I binned everything 2x2 but may go back and get some 1x1 luminance if the weather cooperates.

Anyway it's not a great M87 but at least you can see the jet.

Cheers

Steve

Steve nice image. I can just see the jet but Luminence would certainly add to the image. Tough target. I gather you are on the south eastern side of Ceduna? Must get up that way again soon.

Nothing wrong with that, not every image has to be a masterpiece, if it did there would be so many things you'd miss out on capturing, just grabbing something for the sake of it is well worth the effort sometimes and this is pretty cool

Lovely capture Steve

The jet is fascinating, the first time I've seen that.

Thanks Mike. It turned out better than I expected (thanks gradientxterminator). Probably worth going back and getting high res luminance but now it's turned cloudy again.

This area might be worth a shot with your new scope.

Thanks Paul. I'm actually in Canberra. The last time I was in Ceduna was for the eclipse.

Thanks Allan. I would keep your exposures relatively short. The centre of this galaxy is very bright and you run the risk of burning out the jet if you go too deep.

Love the jet coming out of the nucleus, worth it just for that.

John.

Sorry I was clearly thinking of someone else. I must get over your way anyway, need to catch up with Anthony and a few others and you would be included too.

Another interesting image Steve. I like it. Nice and smooth and you captured a lot of detail there.

Greg.

Thanks Doug and Greg. For some reason you don't see a lot of images of this one, even from the northern hemisphere.
