Nice pick-up Tony!

Caroline Furness (1869-1936) was Professor of Astronomy and director of the observatory at Vassar University for 20 years and is a highly regarded astronomer. The book is mainly about visual observing as far as I can tell, still very useful as a primer but not much in it for those grappling with the modern era of fast photometry by amateurs with computerised scopes & CCD cameras (and time to burn and bottomless wallets).
Cheers -
