Impressive it is, from the miniaturisation point of view.
However, the claim that it will replace batteries is preposterous, and doesn't make sense.
The maximum efficiency coefficient of thermal engines is 29% or so..
The batteries have much more that that (depending on design, it could be close to 100%.. fuel cells could reach 80-90%).
So, forget it...

This obsession with internal combustion power is pathological...aren't we doing enough damage to our environment without having to resort to something like this??!!.

That was why I posted it as a curiosity and a miniture makes me wonder what small wonders that can be built
in the blurb it says that it might replace batteries in heart pacemakers.....umm don't internal combstion engines need a source of oxygen and also an exhaust??
I'm not about to trust my heart beat to something mechanical.
When I was studying to become an Aircraft Engineer in the Airforce ..I can remember being told that the .... internal combustion engine ... is the most inefficient invention by man.
Volumetric efficiency of just 1 cylinder is only about 30%.
Energy is lost to ... heat .. friction ... design tolerances and of course octane rating of fuel.
Instead of being 100% efficient .... all you get is 30% ... hence we have ( depending on application ) 4cyl .. 6cyl .. 8cyl ... 12cyl engines to be strong enough to propel a vehicle .... or push a boat through water.
If there is one invention of engines that is close to 100% ... it is the Gas Turbine Engine .. or commonly known as the Jet Engine.
All cycles of the combustion are occurring at once.
( Induction .. Compression .. Power ....Exhaust . ) or as I used to say ... ( suck ... squeeze .. bang ... blow )
But even it falls short of being 100% efficient..... It's the best we've got .. Look at all the Aircraft , Aircraft Carriers , even some Power Stations using Jet Engines.
