Saturn + 4 moons, 21/01/2006

More data, more processing..

This one is from the morning of the 21st January also.. After taking about 8 avi's of Saturn with the 5x powermate, I had a look through the eyepiece again and saw that 4 moons were clustered quite close to the planet.

So I slipped the 3x barlow in (instead of the 5x powermate) to get a wider FOV and catch the moons.

This image is a composite of 2 avi's - one avi's with gain at 100% to bring out the moons, and one avi at normal exposure for the planet.

The moons avi was simply stacked in registax, while the planet avi went through a normal post-process routine.

The 2 were made into 1 via photoshop, and the levels of the moons image was adjusted to remove the blue background (due to the high gain). As a consequence, the moons turned green Can't win them all

Comments welcome.

Thanks guys.. still have the full size 5x powermate captured images to process! Hopefully they'll turn out well, it's going to take ages to get through them.

Thanks Mike, these ones with moons are great. How do you get the moons captured - do you see them if you run just under saturation say 24-50 on the light meter in K3CCDtools?
