WO Mergrez 72 with DDG

I'd been toying with buying a new guide scope that I could attach to either my ED80 or GSO RC with ease I'd seen the WO 72mm a while ago as well as the new DDG focuser so I decided to buy one that was on special with the DDG. I read some good reports although I'm yet to see how practical the DDG focuser is but the temp gauge could be handy on those cold winter nights

The 72 works with the WOF2 reducer so can stop down to F4.8 so it could be real handy for some wide field stuff

As can be seen it's small makes a perfect travel scope as comes in at 300mm collapsed and not much more with the dew shield extended

It is solid, nicely finished which is the norm for WO gear and heavy for it's size coming in around 4 kg. Comes in a nice padded case that has room for a few accessories

bought it, love it. Works as a great guidescope and as an imager with type III flattener l. DDG is not a gimic as set it to 0.00 when focused then the next night adjust back to 0 and viola - perfect focus. Wish all my other focussers had it.

You won't regret it. Its a fantastic little scope. I cant recommend it enough for an imaging scope. As Allan has pointed out the PIII flattener and reducer is a must have for it. I want to image through other scopes but i can't stop imaging through this one (when the damn clouds and rain aren't here that is )

Great scope. I use mine mainly for imaging but it works fine as a guidescope for my C11. Many of my shots are taken with a M72 from surburban skies using a skywatcher field flattener, CLS filter and a Canon 450D.

Its a good grap and go scope too with great contrast. Put it on an altaz mount with say a 27mm panoptic and you will see what I mean.
