Lost 16"Mirror
It seems the only safe way to get a mirror from A to B Is to take it yourself
Only a few weeks ago another member lost his 12"?
with Australia post, eventually to be found, I hope I have the same result.
TNT have lost my Mirror and have no idea where it is
I have had conflicting messages every time I call them
The Tracking message on their site is the same message that has been there since last Wednesday
It was picked up from Isaac on the 111/01/11 and no trace of it can be found
Still waiting for a phone call to say what is the next step
Cheers

Ron, A very frustrating time for you. My mirror is about to be coated by Isaac, but at least I'm able to take it to him.
TNT's response is not good enough!!
Over the years, I've found that the only way to get positive results from any company is to keep on their backs!!
Don't deal with the drones, go straight to the top!!

I wouldn't wait for a phone call, I would implement insurance recovery proceedure immediately, that process has once for me in past sped up the finding of a missing parcel.

Unfortunetly it was not insured as it was over $300.00 to insure it, with frieght and coating it would have been over $1100.00 to have the mirror done

The Exersize of getting my Mirror seems to be Jinxed from the Start
First the illuminising machine breaks down then I had to wait to get it fixed then the floods come so they hold the thing in Sydney and now they don't know where they have put it
I think I would have been better putting up with the mirror the way it was till I could deliver it myself
Cheers

Hope it all pans out. Insurance with Australia Post is dirt cheap - probably no more than $30 for $1500 mirror. I've sent hundreds of mirrors around the country over the years and never had to make a claim on Australia Post- as far as I am concerned its a myth that they are at all unreliable with large items.

Lost Mirror
I'm sorry to hear that your mirror is missing Ron. TNT usually provide fantastic service. Australia Post lost 12.5" my mirror in late December and I'm happy to say that they found it 5 days or so later. I was concerned since it is a Zerodur mirror from my RCOS and would be expensive and perhaps difficult to replace.
I hope you have the same luck
Cheers

Thats a worry Ron .. hopefully it shows up soon,, as late as thursday last week the hwy around grafton was closed in parts .. in the local news there were reports of truckies stuck having to wait it out in motels..and hitting the local pubs playing pool..
( the tone of the article seemed to suggest they didn't mind).

Hi Ron. I know this is too little too late, but this might be taken in by other members. As an online seller of Antiques I am often sending large items. I have found that Greyhound Bus service to be Very Very cost effective. They also don't use machines to process cartons, all is handled by hand. I have never had an item lost or damaged when using them. In fact I live in Adelaide and used them when I purchased my used LX200 10" from NSW. They collected it from the seller and transported it to me for $100. Very good value when we all know the total weight of a full 10" LX system. You name it I have sent it from surfboards to furniture using Greyhounds.
I hope you get a good outcome on your mirror. Very Very stressful.
Regards
Mardy

re mirror
Sorry to read this Ron,this is not good.
I find Australia Post to be very good, interestingly though
over the years I have found some post offices say something is to
big,or heavy,take the same item to another-its all good,Although I
think its changed a bit now, everything is homogenized.
Never had much luck with TNT only used them a few times-there always
seemed to be an issue, and when the box arrived, looked as if it had been in an Avro Lancaster, may be they still use them. They lost my EQ 6 tripod, but the mount arrived.
I sold the mount, sent it by Australia Post-got to Adeliade in 3 days no problems, and we all know how much they weigh.
Hope to read and happy end to story.
Chris

Thanks Everyone for your Concern
As Storeman for both Telecom and Private Companies I have sent Stuff via TNT on many occasions without any Problems
but then the stuff being transported was not mine so I was not to concerned if it went Missing
I will just have to wait to see how it all pans out
Cheers
