Time travel from 1928 on film????

Here's an unusual one, I came across this ....... Go to YouTube type in
CHARLIE CHAPLIN TIME TRAVEL and you will see footage of someone perhaps using a mobile phone, the film is about 8 minutes long, introduced by the guy who found it....... Very interesting. What do you reckon?????

If someone knows how to put the link here feel free, as I don't know how.

This guy has clearly not thought this out as in 1928 there is no mobile network and there would have to be another person there to recieve the call so even if this person were a time traveller the phone would not work as there is no network. Anyone knows from Back to the Future if you want to communicate in the past you need Walkie Talkie's not a mobile Phone.

What they need to do is find someone who can read lips. My bet is that she's cursing her ear ache.
But I can see what he means, it looks for all the world like someone on their mobile.
LOL @ Warren re. back to the future reference.

Surely you can see the taunt piece of string running up the back leg of the zorse where there is obviously a speaker hidden. Ahhh the ol' tin can telephone.

It is intriguing though. First I thought it might have been Capt James T in drag.

lol. I love these old clips where someone thinks its some sort of consipracy, ghost or time traveller. While it does look like shes talking on a mobile, like others have said, he really hasn''t thought it through all that much. What a wasted year.

That is just an ad for that chaps movie sales:
The device? could be anything from an early hearing aid Or just something like a wallet in a hand that was shielding the persons face from view.

Pretty hard to pick up what they are really doing, he/she may have a sore ear.

If it was some time traveler as suggested, certainly they would be more sophisticated, and would have been well past the mobile phone stage, even in 1928, not that there were mobiles around in that time.

Beam me up Scottie

I love a good conspiracy theory or even a weak one come to think of it.

They always give me a good chuckle.

Time-travelling drag-queen.

Hi all,

Interesting indeed but I think I can provide a solution and cast doubt on the idea that it is a mobile phone (apart from what has already been posted).

The fellow who introduces the video provides half of what I think is probably the answer: It not only looks like a bloke in drag, I'm certain it's a bloke in drag. Look at the size of the feet and the ankles and the size of the hands, not to mention the face that is seen fleetingly. Look at the gait. Don't judge the gait in slow-motion, run it at normal speed. Look at the hooter! This is clearly a bloke in women's clothing. That is why the hand is being held up to the side of the face -- to help disguise that fact.

Why put a bloke in drag when the part appears to be no more than an extra? Who knows, but maybe they wanted a female that looked middle aged, short and rotund and they couldn't find a person among the crop of extras that day that fitted the bill and just put a guy in drag and told him to hold his hand up to partly cover his face -- after all, he was only going to be on screen for a couple of seconds, who would notice? Maybe none of the females who turned up that day fitted the costume? Seems like a reasonable explanation to me anyway.

If that really is a mobile phone "she's" talking on, then mobile phones must get bigger in the future where time travel is invented. Either that, or time travel was invented in the early 1990's (when phones were bigger) and they haven't told the rest of us yet. I don't think you can, (given the poor quality of the image) say for certain it is a phone or even an object of some type in "her" hand. It may well be holding up a collar of the dark coat "she's" wearing to partly disguse the face. Put against that, "she" certainly does seem to be talking and the mannerisms for mobile phone talk do look approximately right.

Who would "she" be speaking to when there were no networks back then? Are the radio photons being received and emitted time travelling as well? Besides that, no self-respecting time travelling male would be in drag and talk on a mobile in the middle of a film-set anyway -- it's just a way of drawing attention to one's-self surely?

Nope, I reckon it's a bloke in drag with the hand up to the side of the face partly holding up a collar of the dark coat to conceal that fact.

Best,

Les D

Talking Possible Explanations!!

The butch old lady is:

- A butch old lady holding a hair brush to her ear and saying to herself, "If I talk to myself while I am doing this and look sideways at that dang fangled camera gadget, I bet I can make some chrome dome nobber 100 years from now think I have a wierd communication device"... and she'd be right!

- A butch old lady holding her hand to the her ear and saying, "Ouch, I've just been bitten by a bloody wasp/mozzie/fly"!

- A butch old lady saying, "Damn that itches", and giving "it" a scratch.

or... Tadaaaah

Its an ugly cross dressing time traveller with a mobile phone, that does not require a network, saying.... "he, he, he! I'm gonna screw with the future by revealing myself in a bit part in a Charlie Chaplin film"....

Occams Razor

Me thinks said Nobber shaved the dome a WEEEEEEEE bit to close once to often

Hahaha, I'll call this one out; look closely at the fade out and you can see the fingers change position around a circular object.

I put my money on the; Siemens Halske Wallet and Purse hearing aid

How pathetic. But yeah I'll go with the time traveller with intergalactic mobile phone.

Looks like it doesn't it. I say someone off camera they are talking to.

Definitely a case for Fox Mulder.

Thats the beauty of these things we can summise all we like who is right who is wrong and what actually occurred do not enter into the equation

like the old saying goes

only believe what you see with your own eyes, hear with your own ears and even then you'll probably be wrong
