first shots of jupiter.

Hi everyone, heres my first pics of jupiter taken with my new 8" dob as vid then stacked in registax and played with a little bit without knowing entirely what im doing. Its not as clear as it could be, but the webcam is a crappy old one with a cmos chip rather than a ccd one. Hopefully il get a better one soon for better pics.

Well done Roobi - they're way better than my first pics of Jupiter!

Is your dob on a tracking mount or did you do the old 'record for 10 seconds while Jupiter is in the FOV' trick?

Nicely done Roobi. I'm glad you decided to post them.
It seems to be a nice little camera you've got. The seeing let you down is all.
When you finally get a good night you're going to be able to nab yourself some nice images.

Oh cool thanx guys. I honestly thought it was a not so good camera, but il hang onto it now for sure.
Just recorded while it was in the fov iceman. Hopefully sometime in the not too distant future, i'll upgrade to a good mount.
I have to say, i am soooo impressed with my new (old) 8". the views are so much better. finally got to see 47tuc and the eagle nebula, and a few others. Still trying to nab a galaxy though. No luck last night even tho i searched for over half an hour to find sculptor.

looks like another clear night tonight, so my fingers are crossed.

Cheers guys.

(sooo excited)
