BBC Sky at Night

Just been to look for magazines at the newsagent and was surprised that the June BBC Sky at Night magazine was on the shelf, usually the magazine doesnt arrive out here until towards the end of the following month. The May edition was 9.95 the June edition 14.95, a rise of $5 in a month . Thinking the staff might have made a mistake I asked the question and was told its the right price. I again questioned the staff 'but thats a $5 rise in a month' and showed her the previous edition priced at 9.95 to be told that the higher priced magazine is a new magazine and not related to the previous magazine.

The staff claim that May's BBC S@N is not the same as the June BBC S@N and are 2 seperate publishers/companies of the same name.

Anyone else had the same problem?

Adrian

No problem with the price. It was just the attitude of the staff that irked me and then to say the magazine as nothing to do with BBC S@N.

With the current price of the dollar relative to the pound the price should have gone down a year ago not gone up now.

Now our local newsagent have said they won't be getting it on the shelves again. The newsagent I was getting it from closes it's doors this Saturday and now only one agency left in town.

As noted earlier, the difference in price is undoubtedly due to air freight. At the beginning of August both the June (at $9.95) and August (at $14.95) editions were available at the same newsagent in Canberra.
