CCDStack

Howdy!
I see a lot of people are using CCDStack. Is it any better than MaxIm 5? What are its advantages and is it something I should think about?

I'd say there's no better software. Use the one one you feel most comfortable with.

Hi

If you get your settings right in maxim , good results can be had

The reason people use CCD Stack is that you can see what it is doing particularly when using sigma clipping ie it will show you what pixles it is removing and you can adjust your sigma settings to only reject your outliers ( hot pixels , planes etc ) maxim does not do this so a bit of guessing goes on

Is it good yes is it a little dear perhaps , this is why I use pixinsight which does a similar thing and comes with other handy processing tools for about the same money

Harry
