Real Membership count

I see the latest new members Number is 9,308, yet the count at the bottom of the Forums page is 7,847.
What is the real membership count?
This is not a criticism just a query

The one at the bottom of the page is the real number.
The other number includes banned spammers etc.

We're closing in on 8000!

That is true Jen, but unfortunately about 2000 never come back after joining.

Plus a lot of people read without logging on.

IMO IceInSpace is too open.
