Combined Societies Meeting S.E. Queensland

I was reminded that perhaps someone should post a thread on IIS that the Combined Societies of South East Qeensland will be holding their annual meeting at Griffith University on June the 23rd at 19:30 (7:30 pm) free parking at the University after 19:00 (7:00 pm). The room is Building N34 0.05.

Edited to reflect change of venue.

A map can be found here:-

http://www.griffith.edu.au/__data/as..._GEN_NAT_B.pdf

All the usual stuff at these meetings, see people we only might see here or at Queensland Astrofest, talks from each of the clubs, presentation of the Discovery/Achievement Award/s, Tea/coffee/chat afterwards.

I don't have a finalised program, hopefully that will be forthcoming in a few days.

Cheers
Tony

I have an update for the Combined Societies Meeting on the 23rd of June. The time has been put back to 19:30 (7:30 pm) as parking at Griffith University is free after 7:00 pm. The venue has also changed, it will now be in the same venue as last year, Building N34 Room 0.05.

I will post a program as it comes to hand for those who are interested.

Tony,

You should edit the first post with the updated information, not every reads every post.

Good point Brendan, done.

Although I must say that most browsers would display several posts and this thread is not exactly rife with activity at the moment .

Question

I know this may sound stupid, but WHO are the Combined Societies?

The Combined Societies in South-East Queensland are in alphabetical order:-
The Amateur Telescope Makers of Queensland (ATMQ)
The Astronomical Association of Queensland (AAQ)
The Brisbane Astronomical Society (BAS)
The Redlands Astronomical Society (RAS)
The South East Queensland Astronomical Society (SEQAS)
The Southern Astronomical Society (SAS)

The clubs meet for a joint meeting once a year where members can catch up with each other when normally they might not. The other mixing pot of the local clubs is the Queensland Astrofest.

I hope this helps.

Tony
