A Plug, aplug: my kingdom for a plug

I've been plagued of late by plugs that make less than ideal connections. A friend recently resolved what seemed to be a real internal electronic glitch in his Synta (HEQ5Pro) mount when he identified the culprit as a power cord plug that did not make a satisfactory connection with the mount socket. Inspired by that I decided to try the same with my own mounts and related 12 volt DC gear only to find that not all plugs are created equal.
The 2.5mm right-angle plugs I bought from Jaycar will not make a solid connection with my QHY8 nor with my EQ6. So before I go off and buy more plugs, I thought I might ask others what types and sizes they have found best suit these pieces of equipment.
Peter.

I can't answer your question directly but I am aware that not all plugs/sockets are the same.

The most common size is the 2.5mm that you have. But Celestron use a 2.1mm size. The 2.5mm will kinda work but be unreliable. Maybe worth checking the specs on your mount.
