IC 2118 Witches Head Nebula

Hi,

I know "this is wrong" but I thought I would post it anyway.

The temperature was 23c for the entire shooting with a Canon 400d unmodified ISO 800. Scope is W/O Flt110 stacked DSS and guided with PHD.

To try to combat the efffects of the heat I took 18 x 8 min lights and then 30 x 8 min darks with bias frames and flats. Processed with Photoshop. I am tempted to trh to get the forehead and merge them but that is a new learning curve.

Any comments welcome.

Mark

Shame about the heat because you got everything spot on. Terrific shot considering.

Looks like a great effort considering Mark. Good on ya for giving it a go!

I was daydreaming about doing a mosaic of this with the 8" reflector the other day, but with my field of view and the object's faintness its not the right equipment.

Thanks for showing.

Good going Mark, This one is on my "To-Do" list... A mosaic sounds like a great idea... I know you can do it...

Not a bad result Mark. You maybe able to raise the blue channel black point to remove the overall blue cast or try a contrast curve on the blue channel only. The Witch isn't easy to nail. You've done a good job.

Mark,

I think you have captured a very good deal of the detail of the witch. Well defined and clear.
