NGC 6334 - Synthetic RGB

Having a go at synthetic RGB using Ha and Oiii.
Processed as follows:
Red = Ha
Green = Oiii
Blue = Oiii+Ha(15%)
The image consist of Ha=2h and Oiii=3h.

Was this the WO 110 & QHY8?

This was captured using WO FLT110 f/7 and QHY9.

Very cool Eddie,

If you look closely, it seems there is a giant Eel turning its head on the right, trying to bite (in anticlockwise order), an owl, a bison and a sloth.

Or is that just me?

Very interesting shot Eddie - there's a wealth of texture and detail that I've never seen before in standard RGB shots of this object.

Looks like a bit too much noise reduction has been applied though.
Was it very difficult to process re noise or is that an blending artefact?

This is a technique I would like to try with my modded DSLR/Lenses in the future as Astronomik now have Ha, OIII and SII filters as EOS clip in models. I have been using the Ha clip in filter successfully - wonder if OIII and SII might be a bit ambitious for a DSLR!!??

Thank you Doug, it's not blending it's just me over processing with too much Oiii stretching, I think you will need a very bright target to use Sii.

Thats a very stunning image.

Nice choice of equipment too, APO110mm F7 and QHY9 - a nice matchup.

Getting a good match up with your gear is an important part of this hobby.

the detail in the brighter sections is good, but the dimmer sections do look as though too much noise reduction has been used ive never done narrowband so i cant comment on how to fix it.

I'm experimenting with similar techniques, but am using Ha as red, OIII as blue, and a multiplied mix of both as synthetic green. The synthetic green channel is created by multiplying the OIII layer with the Ha layer.
