Mars Venus Pleiades Hyades and Orion over Brisbane River

Hi all,

I found a nice spot for photos overlooking the Brisbane River at Graceville the other day, and tried some shots early this morning. The best ones are attached. I think this spot will be good when the Moon joins in on July 19th.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Very nice Stephen, even can see Orion rising in that last one. Is it that time of year already!?

Very nice images, as usual Stephen.

I really enjoy looking at your work and always look forward to checking out your latest posting.

These are great images, just the right exposure to make the stars points of light with the terrestrial part of the image complimenting the overall look very nicely.

Well done
Regards
Trevor

Thanks very much guys!

Unfortunately the focus is a bit off in these images - but the aim was to test out this venue for early morning photography at this time of year. There is a golf course across the river from this spot, which means no direct light pollution (which is rare along the Brisbane River!).

Yes Mike, it is that time of year again. It should be worth getting up early again on July 19th when the Moon joins the scene.

Cheers,
Stephen

Lovely capture as always Stephen. What did you use to make the tree red?
Also congratulations for having your Venus photo published in AS&T.

Thanks Vincent!

The redness in the tree actually came from the streetlights behing me. They were yellow sodium lamps, but gave an interesting redness to the tree. I didn't like the red look when I first saw it, but I don't mind the effect now.

Cheers,
Stephen

Very nice sequence there Stephen. I particularly like the last one, as Orion is making its presence felt. Great work.

Great photos Stephen, and as with most of your posts, offer something a little different ... Being proactive in regards to location, time and the appearance of your subjects no doubt is the secret here. Well done, and once again really enjoyable viewing.
