Hi all,
I will be recieving a Losmandy Titan mount in the next week, so I am advertising the Goliath EQ mount that has served me well since I bourght it new in 1980.
It comes with a Thomas Matthis 14" R.A. drive with bronze worm and synchronous motor. Also a dual axis drive corrector built by Claude Voarino. The mount is powered by 12 volt DC, so can be used out in the country where there isn't any mains power.
I will also include a set of Lumicon digital setting circles, ( I have never got these to work very accurately, due to me not mounting them precise enough).
The Goliath mount has 2" solid steel shaft on both axis. I made the 24" tangent arm for the dec axis that is powered by a 9 volt motor through the dual axis controller.
The mount has always been housed in an observatory on a pier. The purchaser would have to construct the pier.
I would deliver the mount to Adelaide for $2,000.00 or the purchaser can come to Port Lincoln and pick it up for $1,750.00 . If you want to see the Goliath working; come within the next week, or it will be dismantled to make way for the Titan mount.
Just to inform some on what I have had on this mount to show its carrying potential.
In the 1980s I had a 16" f4.5 Meade newtonian and 8" Celestron SCT, plus 5.5" Comet Catcher on the Goliath mount without any problems. Recently I have had a 14" LX200 and 4" Takahashi, plus cameras.
