No moonrise tonight?

Well, I saw it come up last night around midnight...

Where did it go? Is it hiding behind Mars?

The moon phase calc on the left margin says no rise..

What gives?

hi Jen and Barry,

This happens quite often with both Moon rises and sets. Because the Moon rises or sets about 40 to 60 mins later each day. If a rise happens just before midnight on say the 1st, it doesn't rise until after midnight the following night, making it an event on the 3rd. Hence no rise on the 2nd. You'll see lots of examples of this in the Moon rise/set tables in the yearbook. This is what happens this month on the 18th.

Regards

Glenn

Yep it's the Moons night off.

The moon has to take a break every 4 weeks or so, she needs a girls night out occasionally.
