Stolen Telescope.
On Friday the 13th I had my Magrez SD80 480mm F6 with 2 Hyperion 3.5 and 5 mm eyepieces and 4 other eyepieces 2, 5, 9, 15 mm and a 25mm on the scope stolen in a break and enter at my house in the Dundas area in Sydney.
It was in a aluminium case 600 X 400 x 230mm.
Reward.
Thank you.
Rob.

Tell the major vendors too
Hi Rob,
Rotten mongrels indeed -- hope you get it back somehow.
After spending 23-odd years in the police (in a former life), I've investigated dozens of break and enter charges and as a prosecutor in court I must have prosecuted more than a thousand of them -- but the impact they have never really hit home with me 'till its was my home they broke into.
Scumbags.
Beside notifying the pawn shops, I'd also be contacting all the major vendors in your region because when someone inevitably tries to pawn/sell it, many pawn-brokers will ring someone like BINTEL or York etc etc to get an approximate valuation. If the vendors know about the 'scope, the more likely you are to get it back. You have to realise the pawnbrokers have little interest in getting thiings back to their lawful owners -- they are after all, only "officially state-licensed" receivers of stolen goods.
Hope your Megrez finds its way back home real soon!
Best,
Les D

Sorry to hear about your loss, Rob. I hope you can get them back.
Sometimes I wonder about the mentality (or lack of it, thereof) of some people.

I feel for you Rob,
no worse feeling.
hope you were insured
All the suggestions above are true but i found when I was broken into that the goods are often sent interstate by the scumbags.
We'll all be on the lookout for the gear

Having someone break into your house can leave you with a sense of violation that I would never have imagined if it hadn't happened to myself. Fortunately, I was insured (in fact, this became my preferred upgrade path for my laptop — twice). I sure hope you are insured. Otherwise, I wish you good luck recovering it.
Cheers,
Brian.

Hopefully it was insured, if so I would doubt if i would ever want to see it again, can you imagine how they would handle such a piece of equipment.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I have had someone breakin to my house and steal my property and I have also had looters steal from my burnt out home as well. Doesnt make you think much of the lowlifes on planet earth.
All I can say is
I hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest their groin and their arms be too short to scratch.....
