Don't get a 'Simpson Silencio' - it's too noisy. Our next one will be quieter so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for recommendations too.

Hi Houghy,

You might like to give Andrew Murrell (aka Hector) a call as he manages
the Winning Appliances store there in Newcastle. He is a font of knowledge
when it comes to white goods. Make sure you tell him who you are from
IceInSpace. When you call, ask for him by name.

Winning Appliances are at 61 Darby Street, Cooks Hill, Newcastle NSW 2300
Tel: 02 4926 3636
http://www.winningappliances.com.au/
They particularly specialize in various leading European brands.

Best Regards

Gary

Hi Houghy,

Might still be worth giving him a call and asking what they have on offer in that
price range. For example, they also have brands like Dishlex. Andrew can
also advise on the viability of quick delivery and installation. Don't forget
to take some measurements of the width of the existing unit to make
sure the replacement will fit. Anyway, Andrew is a straight up and down guy
and can point you in the right direction.

Best Regards

Gary

Electrolux Dishlex. I have one and it performs well.
Recomended by Choice Magazine.

Had a hoover for 18 yrs. Last year it needed a new top basket, detergent dipenser and then when the water input solenoid gave in I replaced the machine with the Dishlex.

I replaced those components on the Hoover myself. Otherwise it would have been costly service calls to pay for as well.

The dishlex comes up quite well on the trials. It is cheap but out performs brands costing double or more. The best ones were Asko, Bosch, AEG and one of the Miele models. After the Dishlex are some Fisher and Paykel (F&P)models, Kleenmaid, Smeg etc.

I have years ago experienced a problem at a motel with a F&P dishwasher. Relatively new, it stopped washing in the middle of the program. The detergent excessively foamed. For some reason the machine didn't like the cheap detergent supplied by the motel.

More info available. Just PM me if you wish.
