LPS-P2 or LPS-V3?

Hey Guys,

I'm considering the purchase of a filter for imaging (ED80 & non-modified 50D). Although my back yard is very light polluted I intend to travel to a dark site to do my serious imaging.

So IDAS-LPS-V3 or IDAS-LPS-P2?

I've looked at the spectral plots but I'm afraid they don't mean much to me

Thanks for your help,

Colin.

I've been wondering the same thing. I did find this comparison on the net. You can read more on this site, though you'll need to translate to english using google.

From my understanding the LPS-P2 is just designed to filter the visual spectra, light pollution.
V3 does the same though is much more aggressive on cutting the light and is darker; enhances other emission lines, good for galaxies, nebula, cluster imaging.

I'd also be interested to hear others opinions...

I use the Hutech LPS-V3 from a light polluted back yard in Adelaide. Seems to cut through the haze quite well and allows me up to 10 min subs @ 1600. I use it on a Tak 90 @ 4.5. I went to a dark site at Stockport but didn't use the filter at all which was the point of going to the dark site. Haven't tried the LPS2 though which is a lot milder.
