Wanted - a Big EQ mount

Folks, I'm chasing a big, heavy equatorial mount - perhaps even a do-it-yourself job that is now in the corner of the shed, getting rusty and providing a home to mice and spiders. I want to convert a large Dob to an Equatorial but can't afford the sort of mount that I would most like - Losmandy Titans and their ilk. So it's compromise time. It doesn't have to look pretty. If it has setting circles and can take a drive on RA som much the better.

Hi Peter,

How soon do you want it? I have a Titan mount on order, and it was supposed to turn up last October and I am still waiting. When the Titan arrives, I will have my Goliath EQ mount for sale.

The Goliath is the big brother of the Sampson mount that was sold by Astro Optical supplies in the early 1980's. The Goliath has solid 2" diameter steel shaft on both axis. Also a Thomas Matthis 14" R.A. drive that is very accurate. I had a 16" newtonian and 8" SCT on this mount at the same time without any problems, (in an observatory).

It has a dual axis drive controller that the operator can adjust the speed of the R.A. synchronous motor and Dec motor with hand switch box.

This mount weighs heaps and needs 2 adults to carry it, so I would suggest pickup.

Let me know if you are interested.

Hi Peter, I couldn't get any photos on the private message or email in that section. So I am putting up the photos of the mount that I took today on here for you to look at.
