Celestron Nexstar 4

I can align my scope and it will goto objects in the sky fairly accurately but it will not track accurately. Could this be to do with anti back lash settings. Any assistance in this frustrating matter would be appreciated, I have even tried replaceing the drive motors

Hi Peter

Sorry to hear about your frustrating problem.

How do you initialise the ‘scope? I presume to need to first enter your Latitude, Longitude, Date, Time and Time Zone? Does the ‘scope store these in permanent memory?

Also, is it an alt-az mount, or an equatorial mount?

Cheers

Dennis

Re your questions

Set up is a manual north and level, all site information etc is stored except time and date, when these have been entered it offers a goto 2 star alignment and you proceed from there, first goto (say Jupiter)is ok but tracking gradually over say 10 minutes drifts away
