Look for the "X" on the moon

Hello all, this could be a good weekend for those "down under" to get pics of the "X" or "cross" on the moon between craters Purbach and Blanchinus around this first quarter phase of the moon. The light from the sun strikes this area to form what looks like a letter "X" near First Quarter moon phases. (or some first quarter phases) as the terminator nears this region. So get you camera's ready and please post your obsevations....Also, if anyone has already taken a picture of this or spotted the "X" please let me know... thanks! This is my favorite feature or light ray that forms on the moon when certain conditions are met.

A predicted date and time for those near Sydney, Australia has it appearing at approx. 1148UT (2148 local) on 12 Aug 2005. The event will probably last less than 3 hours.

Please let me know if you see it or not. Thanks!

Very interesting, i'll give it a go if
a) the weather is clear
b) it's not too cold
c) there's nothing good on TV

Just need to find those craters, too. Thanks for the info.

Thanks, that would be great. If you get a chance start peeking outside every once in a while starting at sunset until you can't hold your eyes open anymore... maybe something will show up....lol
