Starry night question

I have one (kosher) copy of Starry Night Pro ver 5.8.2, which is loaded on both my desk-top and laptop. On my desk-top, if I hold the cursor (which shows an arrow) over a star, planet, what-have-you, it will display about 18 lines of detail about the item, altitude, azimuth, rise, set, zenith, constellation, RA, Dec, mag etc etc. On the laptop, (the cursor is a hand) I have to left click on the body, and it will only show the name, but none of the detail, and the name will stay on the screen until some other body is selected.

I cannot see any differences between the laptop and the desk-top in the preferences or any other settings, but quite obviously there must be a difference somewhere. I would like to set the laptop to do the same as the desk-top.

Can anyone help please?

With Starry Night...any version, make sure that when you want to see the details, you have to have the cursor appear as a pointer with a small page icon with lines on it, appearing alongside of it. Sometimes it'll appear when it's just a hand but at other times...when there's no information, it won't appear.

I have Starry Night Digital Download but I think it's much the same for settings.

If you look in the file menu and select Preferences. Then from the drop down box select Cursur Tracking(HUD) and play with the settings in there.

cheers

Mark

Didn't think of that, Mark. You should be able to change it from there...although I've never had the same trouble with Starry Night.

Might just be the way the program setup on his laptop.

Thanks Mark and ReN, I had checked there previously, but hadn't noted that the box for showing detail was unticked. Done it now, and everything is OK.

I spent HOURS checking all the various options, but still missed it.

I have another problem with Starry Night...

I draw a complex horizon on my desktop computer, and I would like to copy it to my laptop? Is there a way?
There is also an isue with other user settings like FOVs and equipment...

Any ideas?
