My 1st time to post planetary image in this forum.
Havn't imaged planets for nearly half of a year. Below is my 1st Mars image taken at today dawn through a 12.5" F5 Newtonian + 3x + 2x barlows + Baader IR blocking filter + ToUcam, 1285 frames stacked and quick processed with Registax + PS.
Final image not so stunning as the red planet is still very small in angular size now and the air was not steady enough, seeing: 3-4/10 & transparency: 5/10 . Moreover, wanted to start imaging as quick as possible before the sky turning bright, and so, not have too much time to check focus. Maybe the focus of this image was a little out.
Anyway, hope you would still like it, and any comment is welcome.
Hi William. Great to see you out getting some imaging done. Excellent shot. Maybe I'll get my lazy bones out of bed early enough one morning to give it a try.
You should see what William can do with a mediocre avie of Saturn Ken. The mans got PS skills I can only dream of.
Paul,
Thanks for your kind words.
Actually, I am weak on image processing, and my PS skills are at a beginner level. There are many people like Bird here being PS experts in fact. So, I do want to meet more people in Australia to have experience sharing on image processing so that we can learn something from each other. This is one of the focus for my last time visit to Brisbane, and I am very happy to meet you. I have learnt from you how to use ToUcam for autoguiding.
Maybe it was the Toohey's Blue I was a drink'n last night, love the detail in that image though, colour could be easily fixed in PS
maybe I need to run some curves & hue/satuation on my eyeballs
regards
No, not you but me to run those curves & hue/satuation on my eyeballs.
I am strong in contrast sensation but very poor in colour sensation. A defect to my eyes actually.
I don't know why an IR cutting filter is necessary for imaging Mars actually. Most experienced imagers have told me to do so and I follow their opinion. Maybe Mars emits/reflects much IR than other planets.

Just that I think like the LPI the ToUcam has one built in, correct me if I'm wrong.
