which 2" Barlows?

Hi,

looking for a 2" barlow, around 2x to extend the focal length of my 10" synta newt for imaging. Want to go after some stuff that requires a bit of focal length......

Has anyone any first hand knowledge/recommendations? Hoping t find something a bt cheaper than a TV - like for example a GS ED barlow? Are these suitable for imaging?

Any suggestions welcome.

cheers
Gary

sorry moderator, posted in wrong forumcan you shift this to the eyepieces barlow forum?

Best you can do IMO & E is the Orion Deluxe 2" barlow. It is not as cheap as the GSO though, bit less expensive than the TV big barlow iirc. You do get what you pay for though. It's a brilliant barlow - best contrast thanks to the internal baffling.

GSO 2" barlows are okay. I have one of those as well. In comparison with the Orion Deluxe it shows lot of field curvature and astigmatism in combination with some eyepieces. Also less contrast, more stray light/reflections. It is a good barlow though, worth the asking price. FWIW there is no difference between the ED and non-ED GSO 2" barlows IME. I compared and compared with different EPs and there was nothing in it. No more or less false colour on or off axis in either one. Except for the labelling, you really could not tell them apart either by looking at or through them.

Specifically re use for imaging I cannot comment.
