It was my first time at VicSouth, and it was just sensational, I meet some really cool people, Everyone was just sooooo friendly and helpful, I had no need to pullout the baseball bat from the car.
Seriously though who ever couldnt make it missed out on a great time.
Hi ballaratdragons,
Yeah it was my first astro camp and must say I was blown away. The people were very friendly, they knew what they were talking about ( some of which went straight over my head ), and most of all made me feel welcome and part of the team so to speak.
I will be there again next year for sure.
I am glad that you had a great time and that you have decided on a LB. The mods on the yahoo site are great, but dont forget we have a number of IISers that have also moded their LBs and are worth checking out.
I have been looking for a moment to go through my Vic South pics and post - but I have been sent all over the country side with work and just need a good block of time to do it.
Things that I should mention about Vic South - is the accommodation, it was fantastic, Food - was prepared well and tasted great. It was so nice to have lunch ready and waiting after a dawn observing session and sleeping in till midday.
The whole atmosphere was great - I only wish that I could have spent time at Snake Valley as well.
Hi Leon
How are you my friend, ....About my name, lets just say I have been called a lot worse but seriously, meeting you and getting to know you was great, sometimes its good to get away from intelligant people.
Sounds like you had a great time, I must get off my ass and goto VicSouth one year. By the way, where were the signs to it from the Western Highway, I missed them...
Great to hear you all had a great time.
Star camps are not only a time to really do some astronomy whether it's visual or imaging but a great social gathering, so even if conditions are not perfect your still guaranteed a great time.

As you go through knill you come to the center of town where you turn left to head towards adelaide, about 1 km on your left there is a large sign that says little desert resort, follow that and you cant miss it. So you actually drove through knill?
Andrew, As Loupy31 said is correct, but i can see you are from SA, so you go to Nhill from your end of the country, and turn down the main street, to your right, and follow the same instructions as Loupy31 described, he was coming from Geelong.
Leon.
And Loupy, it was great wasn't it, i was only joshing about your name, but your right about getting away for a while
Andrew when you have driven 14 k's down the road to the Little Desert National Park, you will see the parks enclosure fence on your left, just after that, about 300 meters is a drive into the park, pretty well hidden, just drive into that and there you are.
It has an electric opening gate, there are no actual signs about the star party.
I suppose it is expected that you know this, however there was plenty of material about this if you had accessed the Vic South web site and if you had made a booking you should have received this info.
Hi Leon,
Yes mate it was great, and I didnt take offence about my name, its all good fun and thats what its all about. BTW I need to ask Petra something regarding her scope, what would be the easiest way to get a message to her.
