new dob here

Just picked up my 12 inch dob yesterday . collimination went pretty good after all the practice i had with the 8 inch newtonian. In spite of fairly poor viewing last night i had to take a look.I could not believe how much more became visable. So with hopes of a clearing sky I set the clock for 1 am and spent the next 4 hours just getting used to the scope and the different lenses.I managed to view a few globulars and now have to try and identify them.
BIG is good I wonder if when they decomission the Hubble if i offer to take it off their hands for a small fee if they would also transport and set it up for me

although i am still waiting to look through a few scopes before buying your comment "Big is good" is definitely causing me to lean beyond the 10"...of course, transporting a 12" dob might be more difficult.

I would be tempted to out bid you and offer 30 cents and tell them they could just park it in a geo-orbit for me and let you use it from time to time!

On second thoughts, cleaning the mirror would be a pain, so it's all yours!

Have a good time with your new telescope.

Signed Envious Chris.
