Interesting thread on actively cooling a C14

Bird started it with actively cooling a Newtonian, which I have subsequently done to my scope.

Paul Haese a member here has now taken the brave step and perform surgery on a C14.

Pauls adventure with the drill is here

For those not up to date on High res imaging, the mirror must be within a +/- .5 degree difference to the ambient air temp if you want the results that Paul, Mike, Damian Peach and Bird regulary get.

Damian has a great couple of atricles on scopes and temps considerations and seeing etc

The best thing is that the aussie boys seem to be leading from the front in this area, so if you have any questions, ask away in the forums.

Just to report.

The scope is back together and working fine, Stars are tight and as they were, better contrast when looking at DSO's and planets (similar to Anthony's scope) and the cooling works. Certainly worth the excercise. See the link for the full report and tips.
