are my filters blocking data

i live in manchester ( uk ) loads of light pollution.
i use a nedymium l.p filter and a fringe killer filter when imaging , am i cutting my self short using these filters and does anybody think that i should image without them and try and process the l.p out of the images.
not sure if i am really drastically stopping data collection when i use these
p.s using a unmodded dslr for imaging

Short answer, you might attenuate the light you are interested in a little by using filters, however by filtering out unwanted light (pollution), you leave the photosites free to collect real data instead of filling up on garbage. So in the long run you are actually increasing data collection ability when you filter out the light polution.
