Anyone else in southern Sydney losing power?

Both tonight and last night our power, and the rest of the neighbourhood's, went down for no more than 10 seconds at just about the same time each night - 6:30pm.

Does anyone know if the electrickery people are stuffing around and if these were "planned" outages? All our timed devices, computers, hi-fi, Foxtel, etc, etc really hate having power removed, and I reckon that it isn't due to everyone having their heaters on either.

Anyone heard?

Cheers
Chris

I am 6 thank you. MATE WITH THE HIGH DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER THE POWER STATIONS WILL BE FIRING UP ALL TURBINES AVAILABLE (sorry caps lock off now) Our state has limited supply and there are plans for 3 new power station in the hunter, 2 gas and one coal. so with everyone getting home from work and switching everything on and cooking, showering and other activities utilising the sparkies, you loose out as the grid tries to fill its wants, so brown outs and power outages will occur, maybe its you and switching on all your scopes at once.....

Chris,

It's the size of your signature that's using up all the power

We have blackouts regularly here. It is due to the place I was working at for 10 months. They suck the grid dry, and if too many things are powered up on a shift, they black-out the whole district!!!

Cold weather isn't good for transformers up on the power poles either.

LOL! Houghy - you are such a cute 6 year old too!

Yep - I understand the logic - but it is still amazing that each outage we've had over the past two nights has been at exactly the same time, and for exactly the same length of time in each case: 6:30pm for 10 seconds. It's that that I find interesting - not the why's and wherefores of people showering and cooking nosh.

I'd like to inform you that I intend to delete one off my scope count today.

But on the other hand I'm replacing it with another.....

No problems over this side of town - we probably get first go at the power allocation for C'town and you get what's left over.
